Gadar 2 is set in the 1970s, during the Bangladesh Liberation War. The story revolves around Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), who, along with his wife, Charat (Amrita Rao), and son, Vijay (Rohanpreet Singh), embarks on a journey to rescue Indian prisoners from Pakistan.

The story picks up 20 years after the events of the first film. Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakina (Meena) are now a happy couple, living in a peaceful village in Punjab.
