The standard Steam version of MW3 (2011) originally lacked a robust offline LAN mode without an internet connection. Community-made launchers and mods now provide these features.
The console versions support up to four-player split-screen for local multiplayer. For the cooperative Special Ops mode , two players can play together locally to tackle missions or the wave-based Survival mode.
